This book documents the author's bicycle trip across America, starting at his home in Los Angeles, CA, and ending at his family's home in the suburbs of Washington, DC. The ride was a most wonderful experience that the author has been dreaming about doing for a number of years. This book is an attempt to share the joys as well as the realism of the experience with others around the world. During the ride, the author experienced a very interesting and most delightful slice of American culture. The book documents the journey, the people, the scenes, as well as various aspects of the ride itself. It is intended to be of interest not just to cyclists (or wanna be cyclists), but to anyone interested in experiencing a sincere and complete account of the journey through this great country, the United Stated of America. There is sufficient practical information about the ride to hopefully encourage readers to experience the joys of bicycling for commuting/transportation, and/or for tourism and recreation. It is the author's sincere hope that readers will be inspired to begin bicycling if they are not yet doing it, or to do more cycling. Bicycling is fun, good for the environment, and improves the health of people who do it.

Alexander rode from Long Beach to Bethesda. Years ago, when I was his age, in San Diego, I hoped to ride to Bethesda. He started in April across the desert, while I hoped to start in August toward Wyoming. He had money for hotels, while I had camping gear. My contract was renewed, so I didn't ride, yet I appreciated every day of his trip. He has great descriptions of mud, wind, traffic, bike trails, and of course, the willing-to-chat reactions of people to a fully loaded bike. I experienced all of those 4 years after San Diego, on the San Diego bike, with the same camping gear, but in another setting, and for about twice as long. The memories of long distance biking came flooding back. I would like to say they were all pleasant memories, but long distance biking can be hard work at times. Alexander does a great job covering the good along with the hard work.Alexander's use of a smart phone, laptop internet weather, and a GPS unit for biking, were all new to me, and very interesting. He compared internet mappings with his GPS unit's mappings, and has good comments on their differences.
Finally, pictures help make things real. He has some good ones. He had a good eye for nostalgic settings along the original US 66, as well as old towns along rail routes converted to bike trails. The pictures are even clear on my gray scale Kindle.
I would recommend this to anyone who has biked with packs, or has even thought about doing it. It would be good reading for regional or state rides, as well as the big crossing.

My Bicycle Ride Across America the People the Culture the Scenes and the Ride eBook Alexander Stanoyevitch Reviews
I love this book. It was so great, I felt like I was riding along on this journey with him. Nice story from a very down-to-earth sounding guy. Thanks
80% of the book was... "I ate at the local subway and had 2-3 cookies", "I made a hotel reservation for 600 and didn't use a credit card because I don't like using a credit card".... "I always look for a breakfast buffet because that is my biggest and most important meal of the day".... and finally "I like to have ice cream for dessert". Had the author eliminated these subjects the book would be 20 pages long. I did enjoy following his choice of routes.
